How Do I Care for a Sailboat Cover

How to Install and Care for Your Cover

You will need

  1. A 1/2" deep socket or wrench to install the clamps.
  2. Sharp knife.

Installation

  1. Do Not Unroll Cover!
  2. Swivel all antenna brackets, outriggers, etc. inside of your stern rail.
  3. Roll out cover on top of the frame per instructions stencilled on cover and provided (the stencilling are on the inside of the cover.
  4. Tie rope from one loop to another. Do not lace, should the rope break, the whole cover will come untied.
  5. Lace up bow.

Removal

  1. Cover must be dry and free of moisture.
  2. Untie ropes from one side of cover, leaving the other end of the ropes tied to the cover.
  3. Work cover up one side of the boat and over the top. When you have the cover to one side, drop the cover to the ground. Be sure the cover drops free of the boat and does not snag any sharp corners.
  4. Roll cover up as per instructions supplied. (this will simplify the installation next year).

Storage

  1. Store cover in a dry, moisture-free area. Do not leave the cover on the ground or on a concrete pad as this will cause the cover to rot.
  2. The best place to store the cover is in the rafters of a garage. If this is not possible, you can stow the cover on a pallet or some plywood.
  3. Do Not Leave Your Cover Exposed To The Outside Elements While Off The Boat.
  4. P.S. Mice Love Canvas
